Download MAGIC demo for Windows that handles CMS-1500 w/ NPI#.

Click here if your operating system is Windows XP or VISTA.  Download demo for Windows XP/VISTA

Practice MAGIC Demo for Windows (all windows excluding xp): (Full program including self-running demo) (1.1 mb) To download a fully functional time-limited copy of Practice MAGIC, you will need several megabytes of free hard disk space, and a completely empty formatted floppy disk. (If you do not have a floppy disk drive, click on Download demo for Windows XP/VISTA above.) You will be downloading a file onto your hard disk (not directly onto the floppy) which will then write a set of files to a floppy disk, and finally the Practice MAGIC demo will be installed from the floppy disk onto your hard drive. The entire process is automatic.  After reading the following instructions, click on MAGICINSTALL.EXE below. You will be given the options to "run this program from it's present location" or "save this program to disk."   Both options will install the demo; however, if you are at all uncomfortable with computers, we recommend you select the first of these options.  Both options will also download the program to your hard disk, permitting you to install it, to begin entering your own data, to print insurance forms, and to generally play with the program.  The first option will place a temporary file on your hard disk, which will automatically create and run an installation disk in your floppy drive; the installed demo will then reside on your hard disk and be accessible from the PROGRAMS section of your WINDOWS START menu.  This first option is ideal for people who have difficulty finding things on their computer. When you are done it will return you here. If you select the second option, a self-extracting "zipped" (i.e. "compressed") file called "MAGICINSTALL.EXE" will be downloaded to the hard disk of your computer into the directory of your choice on the hard disk. With this option, you should remember to which directory you chose to download.  When you finish downloading, you can often simply click on "OPEN FOLDER" and the downloaded file ill be displayed on the screen in MY COMPUTER; it's icon will be an image of a package with the word "MAGIC" over it in blue letters and the label "MAGICINSTALL.EXE" under the icon. Sometimes,  however, people who select the second option must use MY COMPUTER to find the file and then unpack it themselves.  To unpack it, double click on it. NOTE THAT A NEW FORMAT FOR STATEMENTS HAS BEEN ADDED TO THE PROGRAM, which we refer to as the CHRON format.   When printing a statement, the dialog box that asks if this is the right client also has a button you can click on to change the statement format. (If the current format is CHRON, the button will say "Classic Format," referring to the format we have been using for the past fourteen years, and visa versa.)

With either option, you will first see a box with some instructions and then a second box in which you will need to click the top button (labeled "Unzip").  A MAGIC installation disk will automatically be created on your blank floppy disk in your "A:" drive. Then you will be asked if you want to run "A:SETUP.BAT" which will automatically install the Practice MAGIC software onto your hard drive. Afterwards, set the floppy disk aside in a safe place to serve as a backup. The MAGIC installation program will create a yellow and red icon, an image of a file draw with the word "MAGIC" above it, that will be displayed  on your computer screen.   It will also install "manual.htm," a hypertext version of the Practice MAGIC user's manual that can be opened with any web-browser like Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator, and includes hyperlinks that allow you to jump to subjects of interest in the manual.  We suggest clicking once on each of these icons and dragging them to your desktop so that it will be easy to find in the future.  Double clicking on the MAGIC icon will run Practice MAGIC. If you do not drag it to the Desktop, you can reach it  by clicking START, selecting PROGRAMS, then selecting MAGIC and finally selecting PRACTICE MAGIC or the MAGIC Manual.  (The MAGICINSTALL.EXE program that you download is ONLY for INSTALLING Practice MAGIC.  Do not try to use it to run Practice MAGIC.) During installation it is normal for you to receive some messages indicating that various files being installed are not newer than the equivalent file that is already installed;  it will suggest that you keep the more recent file that you already have on disk, which is what we recommend.

Once installed, run the Practice MAGIC program (In Windows XP: START-->PROGRAMS-->MAGIC-->PRACTICEMAGIC); DO NOT RERUN THE magicinstall.exe INSTALLATION SOFTWARE that you downloaded.  Clicking on MAGIC MANUAL instead of Practice MAGIC will cause your web-browser to be activated and the MAGIC Hypertext Manual will automatically be displayed, allowing you to read about all the features, and also offering a Trouble Shooting section that provides hypertext links to relevant sections of the manual.  You can also use the FIND option in the EDIT menu of your Browser to locate the section(s) of the manual you are interested in.  Each time you run Practice MAGIC you will be given the option of running the standard program, or running it as a self-prompting demonstration program that automatically walks you through the program and illustrates on screen many of the features of Practice MAGIC.   Look at the self-prompting demonstration and then play with the program, entering client information and printing forms. If you later purchase and install the full program, all the information you have entered will be transferred to the new program.

Download: magicinstall.exe (1 mb).

(Note: if you would like to work with the multi-user demo or wish to see how the MAGIC/PALM PILOT interface works, OR IF YOU HAVE WINDOWS XP and find that MAGIC does not run correctly or your printer will not print with the above demo, click on magicdem.htm  instead [5 mb].) Note that, although this larger demo includes the multi-user feature and the Palm Hotsync feature, you do not need to purchase these features when you purchase the XP version of Practice MAGIC.
