Practice
MAGIC Demo for Windows (all
windows including xp/vista/and Windows 7): Full program
including self-running demo (5 mb) To download this fully functional time-limited copy of
Practice MAGIC, you will need five megabytes of free hard disk space. This program
demonstrates a variety of features not all of which you may be interested in. When
you purchase the program, you should specify which features you need. This demo is a
multiuser version. There is an extra charge when you purchase the optioinal multiuser
feature.
When you download the MAGIC
file, you will be given the option of saving the file to disk or opening it. We recommend
saving it; after it is saved you will again be given the option of running the file, which
you should accept. The installation process will begin with a box with several buttons,
the top most reads "unzip," which is the one you should click on. There will
then be a black screen for a few moments that should require no response from you. Next a
screen will remind you to close all software currently running, to which you should click
"OK" if no other software is running. The next dialog box you will see is
entitled "Practice MAGIC Setup." This dialog box will suggests c:\magic as the directory to which to install MAGIC; you
should accept that suggestion by clicking on the big button with the picture of a computer
an software boxes in it. (That screen in the installation may be a bit confusing. It has
two normal looking buttons that say "change directory" and "exit
setup" in the dialogue box and neither of them are the options you want. The one you
want is the big square box button in the middle left of the dialogue box with the picture
of a computer and software box in it and no words. At first glance you may not realize it
is a button that you can click on. Click on that.) During installation it is normal
for you to receive some messages indicating that various files being installed are not
newer than the equivalent file that is already installed; it will suggest that you keep
the more recent file that you already have on disk, which is what we recommend.
Once
installed, run the Practice MAGIC program (In Windows XP:
START-->PROGRAMS-->MAGIC-->PRACTICEMAGIC); DO NOT RERUN THE INSTALLATION SOFTWARE
that you downloaded. Clicking on MAGIC MANUAL instead of Practice MAGIC will cause your web-browser to be activated
and the MAGIC Hypertext Manual will automatically be displayed, allowing you to
read about all the features, and also offering a Trouble Shooting section that provides
hypertext links to relevant sections of the manual. You can also use the FIND option
in the EDIT menu of your Browser to locate the section(s) of the manual you are interested
in. Each time you run Practice MAGIC you will be given the option of
running the standard program, or running it as a self-prompting demonstration program that
automatically walks you through the program and illustrates on screen many of the features
of Practice MAGIC. Look at the self-prompting
demonstration and then play with the program, entering client information and printing
forms. If you later purchase and install the full program, all the information you have
entered will be transferred to the new program.
NOTE: IF YOU ARE
INSTALLING ON A 64-BIT WINDOWS COMPUTER, YOU MUST PLACE THE ENTIRE
DOWNLOADED MAGIC PACKAGE IN THE X-86 FOLDER, OR THE PACKAGE WILL NOT EVEN OPEN UP.
