Title: Enhancing EMDR with IFS and Structural Dissociation Parts Work

Presenter: Colleen West

Brief summary:

Enhancing EMDR with IFS and Structural Dissociation Parts Work: Why is it that sometimes EMDR doesn’t work, or only works part way? EMDR, Structural Dissociation, and Internal Family Systems all address specific clinical issues. What key concepts and interventions can we learn from these theories, and how can they work better in collaboration? Deepen your effectiveness as an EMDR therapist by learning when and how to integrate these ‘parts’ models.

Bio of  PRESENTER:
Colleen West, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist. As an EMDRIA Approved Consultant, I help clinicians learn the power and subtlety of EMDR done well. As more and more clients come into our practices with disorganized attachment, complex PTSD, and significant dissociation, we need to learn how to use EMDR safely, and when to use ‘parts’ models instead or in conjunction. I see my practice as the integration of trauma processing and resolving the patterns that spring from neglect. I see mostly adults in my practice in El Cerrito. I also love to cook, paint and write poetry.
